Infant 1
2-9 months
Our Infant 1 program is dedicated to bringing comfort, love and joy to every infant’s day. Our teachers genuinely enjoy watching babies' personalities emerge while they are in this room.
The most important factor to consider when deciding where to enroll your child is the ratio of babies to teachers. This ratio represents not only the availability of teachers when your child needs a diaper change, a bottle or soothing, but also the opportunity for interactions that lead to developmental milestones. OCC stands out from all other local providers because our infant room has a 2-to-1 ratio of babies to teachers, far exceeding Connecticut’s minimum requirement of 4-to-1.
5 Areas of Focus
Communicating With Others
OCC helps your infant learn to engage with others. We talk with your child, communicate verbally and through non-verbal gestures, tell stories and sing songs to model conversational skills. We also use picture books to build association between sounds, objects and words.
Building Brain Power
OCC prepares your infant to think and reason. We help your child explore the concepts of cause-and-effect, trial-and-error, and object permanence through play. We explore colors, sizes, textures, and shapes, and encourage the use of all five senses to discover the world.
Making New Friends
OCC lays the foundation for your infant to develop trusting relationships. We respond to your baby with sensitivity and affection and use words, facial expressions, and eye contact to communicate.
Growing a Healthy Body
OCC helps your infant improve mobility and coordination. We support your baby as he or she rolls from side-to-side and learns to crawl, and support motor skill development with blocks and shape boards. We meet your child’s individual needs for rest and nutrition.
Nurturing Creativity
OCC lays the foundation for imaginative play with photo cards and puppets, and encourage self-expression through movement and music.
